" Clearly the best student residence at McGill. You get a full apartment for cheaper than the dungeons provided by upper res or the hotels. You get to know the city a lot better by using public transit and solin-ites are a very tight-knit group. Some students are worried that being away from campus will reduce their social opportunities. Indeed, if you are interested in frat-style parties and dorm rooms with a maximum of 2 guests per person allowed, then you will be missing out. There are still many many parties at solin, and you can invite as many people as you want. Plus the people working at the front desk are unbelievably chill. This is in huge contrast to the security guards that work at the hotels & upper rez. Overall, solin is home to a pretty eclectic crowd with a pretty substantial community of queer people. Expect also to find people who have taken a couple of gap years and are more mature than those in dorm-style residences. "
