" I enjoyed the campus atmosphere here and the lecturers where for the most part great and supportive - however due to severe budget cuts causing shorted class resources, inactivity in the science socities and constant struggles with the student union I decided to transfer to a different university. " Some of the subjects were quite thought-provoking in the Bachelor of Languages and Linguistics which I enjoyed. But there is very, very limited support for linguistics. There was a very difficult subject called LIN2MKM and the teachers didn't offer any support. I was told to "read the text" again and again. Ended up failing due to this. Even in my first year when I was studying politics, I didn't get much support for the assignments and the topic of the essay was difficult to comprehend and write about which didn't help matters. The teachers are not very helpful save for a few whom I opened up with and felt at ease. That being said, the teachers of certain languages are not as knowledgeable on aspects of languages as I thought they'd be, nor was there any subject about the aspects of said language available. I had to look for it and learn it by myself online through support from fellow learners and native speakers which is difficult since resources are few and those aware of said aspects are also few. The campus facilities are pretty good. I often go to the library whenever I need to study, read, or browse the computer. It's actually where I spend my free time. I can't really speak much for the social scene since I don't have any friends at all. While La Trobe accepted me with open arms and provided me with opportunities to experience university life, I can't wholeheartedly recommend it due to the lack of subject-specific support. I considered leaving the university several times. But I'm very close to graduating so I've decided to stick with it until I finish. "

" The University was good but you do sometimes feel like just a number to them. I'm now at a smaller insitute where I really feel like the staff care about the students. I felt like a learnt a lot while studying but then when applying for post graduate studies at the university there was very little support and they felt only interested in the top of the top grades, without any real consideration of passion or experience. " I've studied at another university in Australia prior to this one and I've been familiar with other universities in Victoria through friends. The staff are incredible compared to majority of other places. I'm not a normal student in many regards so having them be so thoughtful, empathetic, enthusiastic, and helpful, is worth more than anything else. From student advisory groups to one-on-one chats, they try to be as equitable as possible. I love learning but I'm not always great at studying, so this LaTrobe works really well for me. They also try to focus on solving critical real world problems. Them being really high up in the Times Impact rankings makes me really proud of the place all round. "

" The School of Psychology & Public Health at La Trobe has provided a good experience in my undergraduate in psychological science. The university could provide greater exposure to guest speakers or facilitate relevant debate for students. "
