" UTAS has a wide range of study options available with many friendly teachers. Your experience is incredibly dependent on your degree and the cohorts sense of belonging.
I'd suggest any future student to find a group and make a social scene. The local council has pretty strong restrictions on university parties.
The local student association TUSA, is however exceptional, constantly running events and experiences and is truly a great way to get involved in university life.
Most of the staff and falculty are truely kind and there are a lot of young academics doing there best to make the experiance great for everyone. Online classes are mostly well designed and give reasons for students to engage. The campus is cuirrently moving to the city which is a bit jarring as older staff and residents are using their privledge to delay the move at a cost to the students. "

" UTAS overall is a great campus, though I feel it hasn't caught up with the demands of the population of students it has attending. Many little aspects, such as bathrooms, computer labs and other facilities require updating for modern times. Wifi is okay here, though it could be improved. Parking and social/exercise facilities also could use some upgrades. The culture UTAS has though is inclusive and supportive, with quality staff and areas for socialising, with plenty of opportunities to meet people. "

" Decent Uni, not much competition here in Tasmania unfortunately.
Parking was a definite issue.
Costs of living 'weren't manageable' depending on what type of student you were - here in Tasmania the locals aren't particularly rich, Centrelink gives ~$550/fortnight and honestly you need ~$650 in Hobart, $600 at a minimum if you're fit and don't mind walking everywhere.
Facilities were so-so, definitely 'got the job done', but were otherwise cold in winter and not much better in Summer. The biggest issue was the available space for students - there just weren't many good study areas on-campus. They implemented a booking system, but it was pretty overbooked most of the time.
I managed to find an Engineering job with my Mechatronics Degree, but not in Control Systems. I wouldn't really put that as a reflection on the University and more a reflection of the industry in Tasmania as a whole. "

" I loved doing my degree at the university of Tasmania. It's an intimate law school where we all knew each other and had so much support. I got a job straight away at a top tier Melbourne law firm and then moved to Europe and made a great career. I could not recommend it more. Fantastic university and staff! "

" The university lecturers and supervisors are world class. Facilities are very good and clean. There is however a greater priority given to the Hobart campus, but this is understandable as there are more students at this campus. "
