" I applied for this university with a diploma I acquired through my time in the Austtalian Defence Force, it was a Recognition of Prior learning diploma earnt through my time in the Army. The university of Wollongong accepted my diploma and 5 years of being in a leadership position and allowed me to study towards a Masters in Business beginning with a Graduate Certificate in Business.
Accepting my RPL diploma and prior work experience really helped me skip the que in relation to study, I bypassed an undergraduate degree which has saved me time and effort in trying to get out of the defence force and help me secure employment in the private sector. I now work for a university itself and the reason I secured this employment was because of the graduate certificate in business that UOW gave me, I am employed as a Business Development Associate. My job is now finding money for the university to increase research capability and promote commercialisation of research and work along side small to medium enterprises and primes in the Defence sector. " Good experience. COVID obviously made things challenging. A lot of funding cuts in my faculty meant that lectures were old recordings and often cut out / not up to date. There weren't a lot of online resources from the uni - primarily self taught / want was taught on campus. BUT most of the academic staff are amazing "

" The campus is lovely but there could be better administrative processes, there has been a lot of jobs cut in admin which has led to a lot of stress on subject coordinators and tutors meaning there is less time to communicate with students. The facilities are great but there have been instances where I've felt unsafe on campus. they are very good in terms of academic considerations but the university has poor medical and mental health facilities due to funding. I wouldn't take back my time at UOW but I would like to continue my studies elsewhere "

" There is a lack of good quality teaching staff- the marking is inconsistent, information given around assessments is unclear. Favourite thing was being able to sit outside in the fresh air on some grass or a seat and work on the assignments. Some teaching staff were not very supportive, whereas others were amazing. Online learning due to COVID was ridiculous! recommend not doing online learning through UOW. "

" UOW has a beautiful, nature-filled campus. The ponds, trees and ducks make it a grounding place to learn. They do however seem more concerned with social scene then teaching and support resources most of the time. The parking is atrocious. "
