" The education itself is of a high standard and overall the professors on my campus are competent. The social scene at Augustana is lacking in large part due to it being a small campus. The smaller environment has it's benefits like having a stronger relationship with the professors however the career opportunities and amenities are also lacking. Overall If a smaller environment is what suits you then it is better. Also the environment program is top notch. "

" Excellent design program, one of the most inter-disciplinary in Canada (if that's what you're looking for), but with the opportunity to customize based on your interests. The campus does not have a great social scene, it's mostly a commuter school. "

" I went to the Augustana Campus in Camrose AB, which is different than the traditional U of A campus in Edmonton. My experience of this campus was that it gives you the prestige of a U of A degree but you get to know your instructors better and its a closer-knit university by virtue of its size. Augustana has the ability to offer many unique opportunities which up until the last couple years included a well-known biathlon team. Augustana runs study abroad trips such as the Cuba trip in winter semesters (every other year) which are open to the larger U of A campuses as well. Though Augustana is often overlooked due to its small size, it has been integral to my academic career; from multiple scholarships to research opportunities I would not have been able to find elsewhere. " There were a good amount of clubs on campus, food gets a bit bland after a while. If you lived on a student meal plan you'd pay an exorbitant fee that you wouldn't even be able to finish spending by the end of the semester, if you didn't pay for a meal plan it'd be better. When it was busy you could barely find a computer in a library or a place to sit for yourself, and it gets busy quite often during midterms and finals, which made up maybe 60% of the time during the semester because they're so spread out. No classes ever took attendance and campus normally felt safe except for the LRT station at night and HUB mall because sometimes there were homeless people sleeping there. There was even an attack on a student in the subway station on a student and the police came faster than the campus security so that needs improvement. Wifi was sometimes ok, but sometimes not so good, and not as fast as you hoped it to be. Definitely needs to be more support for students, especially for mental health and just overall guidance. You'd hear at least about a few suicides a year or as they call them "gas leaks". Overall, I would still recommend this institute. I think it's a decent campus, good amount of clubs for you to dabble in and find people to socialize with even though it can be hard at first. There's even a bike shop that teaches you how to fix your bike for free (just be extra cautious locking it up, there tends to be bike theft). The professors are a hit or a miss, some are really good and care about students, some might be good at researching, but horrible at teaching and don't have the passion. Most staff tend to be quite nice and may go above and beyond to give you advice (though it still depends on the person). Just wanted to give a different perspective than what you'd find on brochures that's advertised to you. Keep in mind a lot of universities have these sorts of problems, it's almost universal (unfortunately). However it's good to know about it and prepare for it. "

" Did my first year entirely online so I can't answer everything from a normal student's perspective... but honestly if you want to make friends through online schooling you have to put in the effort. Join the clubs that are available, go to mentor meetings!!! "
