" Most of the programmes here are still heavily bound on traditional values (as most Indonesian universities are), and it could hinder the studies of students as they are provided as mandatory classes that are unskippable. And the other thing to expect is also to be ready to attend events in the weekends (yes, saturdays and sundays too), just so that you don't miss anything. And most classwork need to be done traditionally (handwritten), scanned and submitted either by paper copy, or through an online classroom service (google classroom, UGM's Simaster, and eLok). One of the poor parts of being a student here is under the adequate facilities they provide, they could not manage their class times properly, so expect your classes to be compressed into one part of the week. The freedom to dress in the natural science department is also strict (shirt must have collar, shorts and sandals are forbidden). And despite all the class hours you have participated in, you are expected to clock in much more hours to study outside of class to the point that it is fairly quite disruptive to the everyday life that we have. It is unknown whether it is the nature of a competitive university (UGM is one of the top universities in Indonesia), or whether hard work is still more appreciated over smart work. "

" If you're looking for a university that teaches more practical than theories, this university will be a good choice especially for a computer or IT field of study. This university also has a strong alumni relationship so don't be afraid if you can't get a job quickly after graduation as long as you're in a good relationship with your senior. "

" This is one of the best university in Indonesia if you looking for a low cost living, great environment and high research activity. There is still some old facilty and buildings that used for learning activity. This University is the best University in Indonesia according to QS World Ranking 2021 "

" I recommend UGM for its tourism studies, because it is located in Yogyakarta, one of the main tourist destination in Indonesia. There are a lot tourist attraction from natural to cultural attraction so you can learn a lot from perception of locals and tourists. "
