University College Dublin (UCD) was established in 1854 by John Henry Newman. It's currently ranked among Europe’s leading research-intensive universities. UCD consists of five colleges and 18 research institutes and centres. The University offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in areas including agriculture, architecture, business, education, engineering, humanities, law, medicine, science and veterinary medicine.
The main campus is located on a 365 acre site in Belfield, 4km south of Dublin's city centre. It has a wide range of modern learning and sports facilities. On campus accommodation is provided for approximately 3,000 students.
