" My experience at AFDA Cape Town has raised several concerns. The environment often feels more like a business than a higher education institution, and the overall culture can be difficult for students to navigate. At times, there seems to be a lack of professionalism, with boundaries between staff and students not always clearly maintained. Communication is also an issue, important updates are frequently shared informally via WhatsApp before being sent through official channels, if at all.
Some members of the academic staff appear to lack the formal qualifications or training required to teach at a tertiary level, which can affect the quality of education and long-term academic outcomes. The curriculum lacks consistency and tends to change without clear notice, making it challenging for students to plan or stay on track.
Given the tuition fees, there's a noticeable disconnect between the cost and the overall standard of teaching, communication, and institutional support. I believe the university would benefit from greater transparency, improved regulation, and stronger student protections. I urge prospective students and parents to do thorough research before committing. "

" AFDA is a nice place to get to learn the film industry. They provide you with simulated set environments to better introduce you to the greater world of film-making. A great place to learn the entire process start to finish. "

" I had a poor experience here. Communication within the school needs significant improvement, as it often felt disorganised. Parking was difficult to manage, and I even had damage to my vehicle during my time there. Some classes felt under-prepared, and when issues came up, I struggled to find the support I needed. There's definitely room for the university to improve in these areas. "

" The overall impression of the campus is that it is well equipped to maintain student needs both in staff assistance nd facilities that are provided to them. However the only downside one can find is the unusual registration processes that require students to register twice a year one registration for each semester. "

" AFDA (Cape Town) is an amazing college, boasting great resources for its size and providing students with all of the tools and resources a student could want, all of this to ensure students achieve the best grade possible.
AFDA is definitely geared towards the more creative side of education focusing primarily on its extensive BA department, including film, live performance and television. This creative influence is also felt in the AFDA Business school, where students are encouraged to find creative out of the box methods of solving the semester directive.
AFDA provides a firm grounding in the essential disciplines needed to run a business.
It is amazing to see businesses created by the students at AFDA go from concept pitches to implementation. I have enjoyed my time at AFDA so far and I’m sure I will enjoy it for as long as I am studying here. "
