The University of Edinburgh, founded in 1582, is the sixth oldest university in the English-speaking world and one of Scotland's ancient universities. The university is deeply embedded in the fabric of the city of Edinburgh, with many of the buildings in the historic Old Town belonging to the university.

Edinburgh receives approximately 60,000 applications every year, making it the second most popular university in the UK by volume of applications. After St Andrews, it is the most difficult university to gain admission into in Scotland, and 9th overall in the UK.

 " Very good experience at UoE, it is located in an amazing city close to nature. Very good student city lots of places to go and cheaper than London. Quite international in my cohort (25 people) there were 12 nationalities. "

 " I really recommend this university, the staff are extremely helpful and the campus is nice! However, the cost of accommodation is on the pricier side and it can be tough to find a flat. The modules that are available for my subject area are very expansive and allow me to go deeper into areas that I find interesting. "

 " I loved every minute of being at Edinburgh! The Law School was always helpful when I had admin enquiries and the international support team were also always there to help. My Lecturers and tutors were very professional and Intelligent. The University Accommodation was expensive but there were many options to choose from and allowed me to make a lot of friends.  " The University itself is good, but the student support system could use some work, as could communication in joint honours degrees. There is a wide selection of clubs to join, and the city itself is great. "

 " Chose this university as it is one of the highest ranked university's in Scotland. Overall happy with my choice!  Lots of clubs and societies available and a good night life.  Everything is very central to the city. "
