" So, obviously a good uni, and a great educational experience (if intense). The funding for living costs, as a first-gen working class student etc, was great. However, the cost of living in Oxford is mad, and there are still huge issues with cultural accessibility for students that aren't "the typical Oxford posh sort". Obviously, the uni has pumped loads of money into getting access student bums on seats and financial support, but some of the everyday attitudes of students (and some professors) were shocking. Some really great tutors teach here, on the other hand. One big issue is that the cost of living in your college will vary immensely by how wealth a college is-- I was paying £155 a week for a room, whereas at St John's you'd be paying nearly half. Watch out for the "yearly" costs as well-- that's based on only living in Oxford 24 weeks, you have to pay extra to not move out every 2/3 months. Overall, I'd go again, but I might apply to a wealthier college. "

" It's a great place to go, but I guess everyone already knows that. The pressure can be quite tough, and I know a few students who have struggled - however support can always be found if one is ready to ask for it. "

" My specific course is brilliant and the teaching staff are fantastic - but I have several issues with the wider university. As a working class student, I found the atmosphere to be alienating, as the social scene is not necessarily friendly to people who can't afford it. Oxford is a very expensive city to live in (London prices), and the college system, while fostering social events, can make for a somewhat atomised existence. The uni has ongoing issues with racism and refusing to take accountability for the ties that many of the colleges have to slave traders or other colonists of high and low rank. The uni brags about letting in people from non upper middle class backgrounds, but the cost is prohibitive unless you get lucky with a scholarship. Postgrad is more democratic than undergrad, but it is by and large an "old-school" institution. "

" The university provides an environment where you can do your best and exceed expectations. There are also a lot of other opportunities here if you look for them in terms of career progression and extracurricular activities. "

" A tough place for sure, but incredible people and a niche for everyone means you'll find life-long friends here. Academic atmosphere can certainly become toxic though, especially towards finals. Be wary of being caught up in the "God I've got sooo much work" competition. "
