" Overall, I had a great experience, definitely a 10/10 recommendation. The teaching quality and sense of community were excellent, and I truly enjoyed my time there. The only downside was the cost of housing, which wasn't very affordable, but everything else made up for it. "

" Lovely university in a small town, has a feeling of traditional academia in which every opinion is valued.
A lot of support is provided by the university staff, and the admissions staff are very accommodating.
Some may dislike it due to there only being one club which is the student union, so there are divided opinions on the social scene. But I enjoyed it. "

" Good quality teaching and research, but very expensive and generally quite elitist (lots of students from higher income backgrounds). Not much social scene there in terms of things to do, small town and no nightlife "

" Fantastic University, its great to get involved with all of the traditions that it has to offer. It is however in a small town so if you want the uni experience of going out you'll need to travel else where. "

" I was originally an undergraduate at St Andrews, and stayed on to do a PhD because I found the department, its staff, and other students, to be warm and welcoming. During my PhD I'm glad to say I continued to feel the same way.
I made use of the support facilities on a few occasions, and everyone I met there was fantastic in helping me get things sorted out. The gym used to be dire in hindight, but when I graduated in 2018 the facilities were excellent.
My main gripe is the price (St Andrews is an expensive place to live, both in halls and as a private tenant). I ended up living in Dundee and commuting. Also, because I was a Computing student, computer and WiFi access was easy, but had that not been the case, I think I would have struggled to get computer access at times, particularly during revision time.
St Andrews had a number of excellent societies, some of which I was a part of, and while it does have its fair share of snobbery, the majority of people I met were friendly and down-to-earth. "
