" Absolutely incredible school, just can be expensive like most universities. Incredibly social, unbelievably beautiful campus. All I can suggest is take a tour, and you will be sold.
The classes are top notch and the faculty have nearly all been helpful. Some TAs here and there have been a bad experience, but it's hard for any university to get perfect TAs.
Dorm rooms are a little dated if you live on lakeshore but it's primarily a place to sleep so not too bad. Many newer dorms in southeast and are much nicer, but also much more party-centric.
Socially there is always something to do with people. A huge party scene but also a huge amount of students who prefer to party less not at all or host smaller gatherings. Both outgoing social butterflies and introverts alike will find friends and things to do as long as you're open to it and look for opportunities. "

" Great school, but you definitely are just a number. You definitely get a great education, but they don't help you along the way much. Their dorms are really nice, but some are too nice. Kids don't get out and do stuff. "

" I enjoyed the vibe here a lot. It's a great place to learn and meet new people. Just make sure you figure out what you want to study early on, otherwise, staying on track can be difficult. I recommend checking in with your advisor regularly throughout your four years. "

" This is a great place to go if you are at all interested in research. The psychology department is particularly strong. The city is also a nice place to live in, as long as you can bear with the winters. "

" I had a great experience at UW-Madison. I moved there from Maryland and found that there was a nice combination of both in-state and out-of-state students. Out of state tuition is quite expensive, but the level of academia on campus is excellent. There is always room for improvement, especially in terms of diversity initiatives, but overall it was a positive memorable experience. "
