" Overall, I'm mostly satisfied with my experience at FIU.
As a fully online student I have never visited the campus, but I find that the online resources are very intuitive and I don't feel that my experience is lacking for not being on campus.
2 of my 3 professors this semester are very informative, engaging, and knowledgeable about their subjects, and I feel like they care about their students even though everything has been virtual. One of my professors gives zero instruction, only tells us to read the book and answer 3-4 questions at the end of the chapter (which he does not ever grade/provide the answers to) and then write 4 papers a semester, which he grades subjectively without constructive feedback or how to improve.
My academic advisor prior to registering for classes was a mixture of helpful and clueless. I chose what classes I should take for myself because the ones she chose for me were electives for my major when I hadn't finished all my undergraduate requirements until - it just didn't make sense to fill in electives when I hadn't even looked into core classes yet. She did help me get several transfer credits accepted and applied to account for my undergrad requirements that otherwise wouldn't have been counted correctly, but she didn't seem to listen or understand me when I tried explaining any unique situations I had with transfers from previous schools or what my goals were for registering for classes for the semester. Bottom line, she helped me, but it was a very cookie cutter process and I felt like the advising I received was mostly not worth my time.
I specifically chose FIU for my major - I was looking for a specific type of English program and FIU was the only school in Florida I could find that offered the educational track I was looking for. I find that the cost of FIU is comparable to other state colleges I attended in other states. I am bothered by the fact that FIU charges facility and activity fees for fully online students who will never use utilize those resources, but since that's standard across universities it isn't like I have much option elsewhere. " Pretty good school overall, the price of tuition for both graduate and undergrad were doable and the quality of education was solid. The undergrad classes weren't too packed and the graduate school classes were well handled. "

" Great school for value. Considering that the majority of students live off campus or commute, it really is what you make of it. The social scene is fairly dead unless you live on campus or are involved in an organization. Problems with administration are routine, so try to not need to go there. Try to be involved and take advantage of the opportunities available. University is very large in population, so it may feel intimidating to some and it can be important to find a social circle. "

" Great university with excellent teachers. The double degree program with Miami Ad School is especially interesting. However, the BBC campus is not nearly as good as the MMC campus—most activities and events take place at MMC. If you have the option, it's better to live near MMC and take the bus to BBC when needed. " Not great professors in many areas of study, but overall good resources and facilities. There is people from all over the world on campus, so great for someone looking to learn about many cultures, social life is great too and there is coutless clubs and student organizations to join. "
