" I'm grateful for my experience here and I did enjoy a couple of years living on campus and then off campus. There is so much I could share but I will say this university is still developing and the education you can get from it is why I would recommend it! However, when it comes to many quality of life aspects I do have my concerns and experiences I can share. Food Options: Little to no options. Do not recommend the meal plan unless you don't see money as a concern or have allergies or any dietary preferences. The meal plan is required when staying at the dorms (when I was there) so consider that before going to the dorms. Dorms: The biggest social scene. The dorm that has the most activity was the one with shared dorm rooms. Females made up one floor of the whole dorm. The female population on campus was significantly less than off-campus. I do NOT recommend females staying in the dorms unless you have a best friend staying with you and even then that's pushing it. Always reach out to the RA for that floor for ANY concerns. I stayed in both the single room and shared rooms, I highly recommend the shared rooms for the traditional college experience and social activity and only get the single room if you're looking for more privacy because not only do you get a room to yourself but also a living room set up with a kitchen and lounge area among only 3 other students in one unit. That dorm building also has a gym inside along with study rooms. I loved the study rooms in the second dorm building and the main areas had students playing video games all the time. Off-Campus Housing: Look for the apartments close by to campus. Get a parking pass unless you really are that broke, then buy a longboard or an electric scooter, the walk is too long from free parking (unless you enjoy the walk as I do). Don't get the visitor pass unless you have to because you are late for a test/exam - it adds up fast. I lived in Arbor Glen and Preserves, I would recommend both with roommates. If you are doing housemates (renting a house together), do it smart, make sure you trust the people you are sharing the house with. Classes: Seating is good, class sizes are relatively small, Professors will remember you. Tables with outlets may not always be plugged in or have power which can affect using laptops in class. Classes are well kept. PROFESSORS will make or break your GPA, LEARN as much as you can about them BEFORE you have to choose your class. YES, stay up LATE or wake up EARLY to pick your classes as soon as you can when registration rolls around. It is WORTH IT. Look ahead of time to see when they will be available and create your schedule before official registration starts. Keep your catalog handy to know what classes you have to take next so you stay on track. Safety: They have emergency buttons around campus and the police are always on patrol. However, that is not what led me to not feeling safe. From my experience, anyone, and I mean an "

" At the time I went the gender gap was huge, with less than 20% female population. The social scene is mainly club events on campus and in the dorms. When I went I was offered scholarships that would cover the dorms but not the meal plan. I do recommend staying in the dorms for the first two years to enjoy more of the social scene on campus and reach out to your RA if you have ANY issues or concerns. I do not recommend staying in the dorms if you are a female. The meal plan options for what you are paying for I do not recommend especially if you have allergies or preferences for a specific diet, they'll offer to "work with you" but it is NOT worth it for that same money could afford a dorm fridge and microwave food for both semesters. Almost everything happens on campus, there is little activity off campus except for rare club events (and clubs that are made to travel). The outdoor amenities are available along with a gym. "

" I was a former UF student that decided I had enough of the neglect of a big university, and came here to Poly. The difference in teaching approach is astounding. Every one of my professors so far has made an attempt to ensure each student's needs/questions have been satisfied. They (professors) have personally reached out to me if they were concerning that I may have missed some material, or asked me if I needed anything else to succeed in my studies. At UF, I could email a professor with a concern and NEVER hear back, even after multiple attempts. Or I'd just receive an excuse back instead. Completely unacceptable for such a big university with so many resources behind it. Which is why I absolutely love the smaller community at Poly. The students here are extremely friendly and eager to help you out if you need it. Amazing program, amazing professors, and amazing peers. My only regret is not going here sooner! "
