" I had a great time as an undergrad here...and decided to stay for grad school too. The campus and community are great. Most profs are nice and super cool and knowledgable. I will never regret choosing UIUC over my other college choices! "

" Illinois was originally my safety school, but now I can't imagine anywhere else I'd want to attend! Every class I've attended has been very interesting, and although sometimes they can get difficult, there's always a welcoming support system of professors, tas, and others who will gladly help. With a large student population as well, you are sure to find someone or a group who share your same interests that make your time at UIUC memorable! "

" You will not find a better balance of intelligible students who also know how to be people. You can be literally any type of person with any hobby you can think of and there will be a group here. A beautiful hodgepodge of 50,000 students, all delightfully perplexed by how such a rewarding place to be can exist in the middle of nowhere. "

" I enjoy my time at UIUC, most of the professors are passionate about their job and the subjects they teach and that leads to a high quality education. UIUC has a great campus, the gym facilities are top notch and Campus town offers a wide variety of food options if students want to explore outside of their dining hall. "

" At the time of writing this review, it is only my first year at UIUC, and due to COVID-19, I decided to play it safe and stay home for both my first and second semesters. I am not to familiar with the life on campus and I did not factor it in when choosing a college. I cared significantly more about the rating of the programs and at the university, and UIUC has an excellent engineering program. The professors I do I generally like, but I do not interact with them often. The structure of the university is set up for a large student body, so most of my interactions with academic staff have been with TAs. Again, I am a freshman so this is understandable in that context: the professors should focus on more important and difficult classes and use TAs wherever possible. However, the engineering curriculum so far has really focused on career development right away. My first engineering courses focused on the opportunities the college provided for career development and acted as a prerequisite for other courses. Sure this sounds good on paper, but i found it absurd that I, a freshman that doesn't know SQUAT about engineering or anything like that, have to write a resume in order to get a required meeting with an academic advisor. This push of get a career started at a freshman level would make sense to an extent, but it reeks of school admin forcing it upon the student body because they know their engineering college is the gem of the school. Let me learn to walk and run before forcing me to race. "
