" I'd recommend Notre Dame as a grad student. Generally students and faculty are pretty respectful and open-minded. I was also able to take classes outside my discipline and get exposed to cool research. The campus is beautiful in all seasons and the food here is good (although a bit pricey). The facilities are nice to use as well.
One thing that may deter you as a potential grad student is how undergrad-centric this school is (but then again, isn't most schools?). In the engineering departments, the stipend is really good compared to other schools and most students have no trouble making ends meet. "

" Notre Dame has a great community feel and usually there is always someone to ask for help if needed. People are really friendly and warm. The academics are rigorous and rewarding but there is a range of course difficulty so you can cater your course rigor to your preferences. Overall, a great university with an excellent alumni network. There's always someone from the Notre Dame alumni family who's willing to connect and help you out. "

" It has all the problems one would expect from a major university, but more benefits than many. As a graduate student, I can honestly say that if I had the choice to make again, I would choose Notre Dame. "

" Notre Dame is great for a specific type of student. Luckily the administration is pretty good at weeding out that student from the application. You will find more of the same at the institute. There are also pretty views, a rigorous curriculum, and opportunity to be found. "

" It was really nice to attend the school. It is kind of a bubble, but you get to meet amazing people. The environment is more cooperative than competitive. This creates a nice sense of community. That being said, it is tough being an outlier there. "
