" Overall I'm very happy I came to Michigan. Tons of school spirit, great academic programs, lively social scene, lots of student organizations, terrific D1 sports with huge fan support. Its a big university so if that' not what you're looking for its not a great fit, but otherwise it has so much to offer. "

" The overall atmosphere here is very supportive and inclusive. However, the teaching quality leaves much to be desired. I feel that professors are often hired for their research skills rather than ability to teach well, which leads to students often struggling understanding material in certain classes. The student body also tends to be somewhat aloof, cold, and competitive which hurts the social scene. The opportunities are still immense here though, and you can generally find whatever you need on this campus. "

" Overall, UMich is a great school; however, it definitely has its flaws. For a university that promotes being pro mental health, the mental health resources have been disappointing. As someone who has dealt with legitimate mental health issues, I have avoided using campus services after hearing negative experiences from friends. Some felt their concerns were not handled sensitively, which has discouraged others from seeking help. "

" The university of Michigan is an excellent school, the cost of living in the area is just very high. I'd definitely recommend the anthropology program to anyone interested, especially since the LSA college provides a well-rounded education. "

" The school is fine it's just that a lot of classes are taught poorly mainly at the freshman and sophomore levels. The ones taught by GSI's are a toss-up on whether the class will be enjoyable or not. The math department here sucks though. If anything, I recommend transferring to UoM after getting the general classes out of the way so that you can focus on your major. You also avoid two years of the ridiculous costs that they tack on to tuition. "
