" Macalester College is very liberal but riddled with performative action by the institution and some of its students. The professors that I've worked with are generally great and very helpful and experienced. Macalester is definitely better than most colleges, but it still needs a lot more improvement to support its students (especially its BIPOC students). "

" Macalester College is a great school for anyone having resources to attend it. The advantages are generous financial aid and offering a crazy amount of support for career development in terms of entrepreneurial funding (e.g. grants). The networking of the school is great too. Another advantage is quite high percentage of international students compared to your average American private institution.
Disadvantages include privileged kids talking too deliberately about genocide. Lack of focus on history in humanities. Not unusual rise of Marxist thought. "

" Macalester provides you an excellent education; this is the school's greatest strength (small class sizes + interesting material + amazing profs = great combo!). The location is also nice as there is lots to do in the Twin Cities, yet campus retains a more quiet feel. The facilities are passable--nothing super fancy--overall, I've loved my time at Mac and would definitely recommend it! "

" I loved going to Mac. The professors were very awesome and friendly and it was filled with a lot of good facilities and opportunities to grow and improve. Since the student body is a manageable size compared to a large state university, you feel more at home and also like you get a lot of individual attention from professors and the college. You also get to know people a lot more closely which can open a lot of doors. "

" Mac was a great choice for me, though it definitely has pros and cons and isn't the right choice for everyone. I can confidently say that I would not be completing my PhD without the mentorship of my professors at Mac, who encouraged me to complete an Honors project and apply for grad school. Overall, it was a super academically rigorous experience, which is what I wanted. It's a small school, though, and it feels small. It doesn't have the kind of party scene that some might want, but it's proximity to Minneapolis makes up for it because there are so many events and places to go out. Very very left leaning, at times irritatingly so, but most students know that when they opt to go there. Overall, I had a great experience. But don't ask me about the winter weather. "
