 " Pretty alright college in terms of social life but in terms of academics, it's one of the top. Clubs and sports scene is pretty good too. But people are mostly focused on the studying and getting a good grade. "

 " Stony Brook University is generally a great campus for college students who want to live close to NYC. It is of particular interest to STEM students. The academic staff are overall strong. However, the social life is lackluster. Campus facilities are often inaccessible to disabled students, and the help from administrative staff can be hit or miss. "

 " If you live in-state, it’s got great value. If you’re out of state or international, it might be a bit lacking unless you’re in STEM. Has a great comp sci and medicine track. 

The vibe of the school is generally very academic. I didn’t feel a lot of school spirit on the weekends and with a lot of weekly commuter students it could be a bit quiet. Room parties were a bit out of place as a result so it never felt like a “fun party school”

If you’re looking for a challenging education, while still very diverse and full of clubs, this is a fine school. If you’re looking for more school spirit or party-school vibe to offset the academics, it’s a bit lacking here. "

 " was a great overall experience. youll come away with a strong foundation of knowledge in the social sciences, which is great if you're considering grad school like i was. i'd definitely go back for a second degree, which is actually something i'm considering. it was wonderful. "

 " Stony Brook is not perfect, but it is a good university. Throughout my four years, I received many internship, research, and job opportunities through the school. However, as a student, you need to reach out and put in the work to find those opportunities. I have a lot of good friends and the social scene is really fun if you put yourself out there. The biggest draw is the cheap tuition, and it is worth it. "
