" Loved my undergrad time at Oswego. Coming from the NYC area, central NY was definitely a new environment for me. However, I learned to rely on the support of academic advisers, counselors, and friends when making the transition.
Socially, you will have a ton of freedom as opposed to HS. However, I'd say be careful and utilize the safety app/ on-campus security, especially late at night. Academically, you have to be the boss of your own college career. Take initiative and seek out opportunities that diverge from your respected academic major(s)/ minor(s). I felt prepared to enter the graduate school world after completing undergrad but, in general, college takes a lot of self-advocation and dedication in order to get the most out of the experience.
If you are a non-traditional student, Oswego offers a ton of clubs/ orgs to connect you with like-minded folks. Also, some professors are flexible when it comes to deadlines, so, that you can maintain a healthy work-life balance. "

" SUNY Oswego is the best! I wouldn't have wanted to attend any other college. There I was able to study an area that I love, make lifelong friends, participate in sports and clubs, work on campus, and live in the dorms. The faculty is great and really cares about the students. They want to see everyone succeed, and will do whatever they can to help you reach your goals. "

" While SUNY Oswego is a smaller school it has a lot to offer. It has a variety of programs at an affordable cost. The campus community is thriving at this school and there are always many events happening. The campus is also located on Lake Ontario and is surrounded by nature. The staff and faculty are friendly and accommodating. "

" Too much concrete, most of the academic buildings look very old and uncared for. The food isn't that bad but it could improve. If you're doing sports don't come here unless it is for ice hockey. Some of the residential buildings also need updating. "

" Oswego is a great school but you're really gonna have to make the effort if you want the best out of your experience (like most schools). I was pretty miserable for at least the first year. I had to start joining clubs and stuff for new experiences and to make new friends/connections. Once I did that, I had the time of my life. I didn't love every single class I took, but some of them were really great and I had amazing relationships with the professors. Some of the dorms are really nice and the food is decent for a college campus. There is a lot offered, so take advantage of it! or else it will just be a long four years in the blizzards lol "
