" Good school, but it is growing so rent and parking spaces are limited. Especially when tourist season comes (fall when the leaves hit, and when ski season starts). The chancellor doesn’t really listen to the students, she only really cares about growing the school. Football team is the most overfunded part of the entire university, which sucks because most of our other teams do well and deserve the recognition. "

" Beautiful campus in a beautiful environment. Definitely go here if you like spending the majority of your time outside and you love small town vibes. I didn't have the best experience with my academic advisors; I wanted more. But I found the social scene to really fit what I was looking for; a lot of underground bands and house shows/concerts, tons of waterfalls in the area, and going to ASU got me into climbing. "

" The instructors are generally very flexible when it comes to deadlines and will happily give you extensions if you talk to them. The textbook rental service saves loads of money every semester. Their study abroad programs are pretty varied. As far as poc the campus is lacking in diversity, and there have been instances of some pretty sketchy people handing out recruitment material for white supremacy groups since I started here. I wish I'd known that before applying here, but it's the cheapest in the state that offers Japanese and it's worth it for the teachers and classmates, they have been fantastic "

" My experience at Appalachian has been that you get out what you put in. Meaning, as much as you're curious to learn or wanting to pursue, there will be resources available to support you in your endeavors. I chose to go to Appalachian because as I was touring campuses, it was the only one where I felt like most everyone was smiling. Regardless of where you go, I would highly recommend taking the general friendliness of the student body into consideration. I'm very satisfied with and grateful for the experience I've had here, especially considering how affordably priced it is, relatively speaking. Big bang for your buck here, in my opinion. However, diversity could definitely be better. That said, individual demographics aside, the general attitude here is very positive and inclusive, especially with regard to the LGBTQ+ community. "

" Overall, I have always heard that Appalachian State was a great school. I enjoy my classes and my teachers are pretty helpful. I feel like the campus is very inclusive when it comes to students, and the library is an enjoyable place to study. The food can be meh, but that is really with any college. Overall, I think this is a good school for students. "
