" Lewis & Clark College is definitely not the school for everyone since it is a small, liberal arts college in the Pacific North West. My overall experience was positive because I made deep connections with some of the other students, studied abroad twice, and found a small group of professors who provided the support I needed. That being said, the college does not provide sufficient post-graduate and career support. The school did not partner with companies in the Portland area, and beyond, to bring potential career fairs and internships to the campus. Lewis & Clark was academically rigorous but did not provide the support many students needed to move beyond college and begin careers. The college also has many steps to take to improve the diversity of the student and faculty populations of the campus. "

" I received an excellent clinical education but you have to be careful about which professors' courses you select: their knowledge and teaching ability varies significantly. The competence of various administrative offices also vary wildly: the Graduate School Office was consistently responsive and competent; the Counseling Psychology office was generally omnishambles; the internship coordinator was actively harmful to your academic career; the department chair was (and, checking the website, continues to) incompetent and petty. And, if it tells you anything, the school at large went through three different presidents in less than a decade. Still, if you're careful you can manage to learn a lot and start your practicum/internship as a reasonably competent clinician. My advice: befriend students in cohorts ahead of you to get inside information on which professors to take and which to avoid; and secure your own internship as soon as possible (because the internship coordinator will not be of any help whatsoever). Just make sure not to do or say anything controversial that might offend any of the petty egos that roam the graduate school who may put you through student review out of spite (a surprisingly common problem in every cohort I observed).
