" It is a good school to go to. There is a good brand value especially if you are looking to stay in the Southeast. THe only con is that it is a very expensive institution, so financial aid might be tricky. "

" Vanderbilt is a great academic community that will ensure you have an excellent education. They can occasionally prioritize their status above that of the student's wellbeing. That being said there are many professors and staff who do genuinely care about their students. "

" As much as they may try to deny it, Vandy still has a very Old South, traditional feel to it. If you want the university experience that you see in old movies, with the emphasis on frats, sports teams, and other stuff like that, you'll like it here. However, if you're a student of color, you'll probably find it difficult to fit in here. A lot of covert racism going on, particularly if you try to pledge to a frat or sorority (which is unfortunately a big part of the campus experience here- I think something like over half of the student body is involved). The administration also is often unclear or contradictory in the messages which they send out. Also, Vandy, while it's working on becoming more financially inclusive, still has a ways to go. The financial aid is great, but the other expenses which they expect students to pay, even students w/ significant financial aid, are unreasonable (such as housing over break). "

" It's a good place to discover your skills and interests, especially as a freshman away from home, trying new experiences. I have has a positive experience so far, and I'm sure you will too. The people on campus are very supportive and always willing to help you out if you have any doubts or want to learn more about something. "

" Loved Vanderbilt. Pros: amazing academics and financial aid, Nashville is great Cons: Very homogenous, expensive. I actually love how Vandy requires 4 years of on campus housing. It makes for a really cool environment, unique from other places where all the upperclassman move away. Parties are always in walking distance, everyone is always near but it doesn't get old. "
