" Texas state is great school for students looking for diversity and never ending opportunities! If interested in applying, I recommend that you take a look into University College's BGS program. My favorite part of being on campus was the people I met and the life longs friends I received. Just remember that college is all about connections! "

" I'm almost finished my masters through fully remote classes, and the experience has been great - a good blend of distance and independent learning with some group work and occasional Zoom meetings. We have great discussions in class and I feel like the work I'm doing is helping me learn, rather than just keeping me busy. "

" The campus is beautiful and it has one of the best anthropology programs in the country, which is why I went here. The teachers are incredibly knowledgeable and I only have a few instances of poor experiences with them, most of these being with 1st year professors. The campus has a lot of hills so definitely need to get your leg strength up, but there were a lot of activities including being able to utilize the river for kayaking/scuba/swimming. "

" Rampant sexism and lots of department politics. Most graduates don't get into a PhD program but they focus the whole program on getting a PhD afterward. They rotate the same electives, many second years are forced to do independent studies or take classes outside the department. I was offered a very small fraction of the courses listed in the catalog. TA/IA positions can be easy or pure hell depending on the professor. A handful of professor view graduate students as workhorses and don't care about our work or well being. Students are not background checked although we all share a workspace with each other, soon we will get a window on the room for safety but the department won't do much more than that. "

" The campus is good, but it's quite expensive. I transferred here and like the surrounding area. There's an outdoor mall nearby, and it's close to Austin for concerts and San Antonio as well. However, housing is very limited and costly, with few options available. The area also doesn't seem well-prepared for emergencies. "
