" As someone who would happily consider herself as somewhat of a dork, I really enjoyed my 4 years at W&M. That being said, there really is something for everyone here. I also had the opportunity to represent W&M as a varsity athlete and I will say that despite some excellent teams, sports are not at the forefront of the culture at W&M. Professors are overall really good, and you will for sure learn a lot and be challenged here. Biggest criticism I have is that the freshmen dorms are pretty poor (ants, cockroaches, some buildings without A/C). "

" I applied ED to this school and have not regretted that decision. The students, faculty, and staff are all very friendly and everyone goes out of their way to make sure that others are doing well. People really care about building each other up, and any competitiveness that I've seen is internal; it comes from people wanting to do their own personal best. "

" As a current graduate student and a person who identifies as a person of color (POC), the College of William and Mary has provided me both a safety net and the educational foundations needed to pursue my area of interest. The university as a whole has been welcoming to all students, and has created a warm, receptive student body despite the setbacks the pandemic has created. With my training here, I am confident that I now have the skills and mindset needed to not only pursue a PhD but also a well-paid career! As a vegetarian, there are options on campus to eat a hearty meal but they're not always protein-rich. Fortunately, Colonial Williamsburg is nearby, so you can always grab food and quickly head to class! The student health clinic here is also really good, but the health insurance the university provides is pretty expensive (at least for a gradate student with a limited stipend!). But, it is worth every penny since it's a pretty good health coverage package for a student. Although I am not in any clubs, I have heard from friends that clubs and service activities continue to bring different groups of people together in spirit, and it has been a wonderful experience interacting with people from different academic streams. Overall, William & Mary is a great university! "

" My time at William & Mary was incredible. Coming from a small town, it allowed me to get a glimpse of the different kinds of cultures, fields of study, and people there are in the rest of the world, while still making me feel at home. My experience there was so valuable, that I truly don’t know where I would be had I not gone there and taken advantage of all of the opportunities that had presented themselves. Although my department was small, I saw that all of the professors cared, which was really important for me, even if there were a couple that I didn’t really like studying with. I think there are problems that need to be addressed, but I saw that the school was going in the right direction, and the people I met there, the professors that I loved, and the opportunities that presented themselves to me make all of the small imperfections completely worth it. I don’t know about the rest of the school, but my time with the Linguistics department and the Russian department were unforgettable, and I would recommend them to anyone interested. "

" William and Mary is an amazing college. The campus is beautiful and historic. More importantly, the professors are wonderful and are always willing to help. There are so many opportunities to meet all kinds of people. I'm really glad I came here. "
