" Very strong academic reputation and strong research portfolio. Lacks some public transport (train and light rail) and there isn't quite enough parking spaces on campus. As the campus is relatively far from the city centre, this can be an issue. The campus is very pretty but it can be somewhat isolated. There is a single small bar on campus that is neither cosy nor convenient. The sports facilities are plentiful, but largely motivated by commercial interest (there are periods when the gym cannot be used by students, and sporting facilities in general are shared with private sports bodies). The university is wealthy, with a lot of high quality facilities, but the day-to-day running of the campus seems somewhat divorced from administrative staff, who seem more interested in appearing virtuous, and pursuing impressive vanity projects like the University Club or Gateway Project, than actually providing more quality of life features.
