" Overall a good school although the Stratford campus can seem isolating to the rest of the school. The stratford campus is only for GBDA undergrads and MDEI masters students. Both very small programs so not many people attending the campus. Very nice building though and they do not allow Stratford students to use the main campus waterloo facilities like gyms. "

" It is a good school but definitely needs work when it comes to supporting mental health. I am lucky with most of my profs being very accommodative but in general UW is terrible for mental health. It's coop is good too (except PD). For Coop i found a job very easy without much hassle compared to my friends in other universities. The sciences are very hard for those not prepared enough. The physics courses here specifically are crazy. "

" University of Waterloo is an up-and-coming institution with a reputation for creating hireable and technically knowledgable graduates. While the campus is full of mathematics, computer science, and engineering students - students from other facilities enjoy a tight knit community within their faculty and a friendly, mutually beneficial relationship with STEM students. Things to consider when applying to UW are your future career path, social scene, and whether or not you'd enjoy living in Waterloo, ON for 4-5 years. "

" Note: I'm only in 2A so take what I say with a grain of salt. The class material is quite stressful, even in a program like mine (can't imagine how the engineering students are holding up lol), but the academic staff help out a lot. Most of the profs and TAs are chill, my academic advisor was one of the most helpful people ever, and Health services/Campus wellness saved my ass dozens of times. The campus itself is pretty depressing. The geese and the construction are a nightmare. The only super nice buildings are the ENG ones (plus AHS and QNC). Most residences are quite old, but there are some good ones. There's a lot of nice study areas, so as long as you find a spot, it's not too bad. Waterloo has the rep of bad social life but I think it's the exact opposite. It really depends on how much effort you put in. We benefit a lot from having Laurier out here as well, so it's a very student-filled city. Most UW students are stressed to the max, but they still somehow find time to party (especially first-years). It's pretty easy to make friends out here, even during online classes, especially if you live on res. "

" A very Engineering/CS/Math focused school so trying not to pertain to the stereotypes of students generally in these fields but the vibes are what you would think of. Relative competitive and the co-op program offers an unrivaled amount of exposure for students to start interning as soon as first year. Socially its very dependent on the person as it could be awesome but also very bland/boring. Personally I've made long lasting friends and enjoyed my time here while going through the endless electrical engineering program (Life was tough for a the first 2 years). "
