" I do throughly enjoy attending Thomas Nelson community college but I certainly wouldn't be the first student to admit the school has its issues. There are many students who are dissatisfied with the fiancial aid center on the Hampton Campus and I've heard it described as "difficult" due to the individuals who are currently managing it. As I personally have no dealings with the finanacial aid center it doesn't particularly bother me, nor affect me. The Williamsburg campus and Hampton campus both have access to a cafeteria and numerous vending machines. (Subway is available within the confines of the Hampton campus.) I am frequently weary of the vending machines however because they can act up at times and make paying by card challenging. The wifi on campus is pretty strong overall but it can be a little confusing to figure out how to sign in at first. I personally believe the most irritating issue concerns the student services center as many of the aids have poor communication amongst each-other and thus mis-information is spread around. The arts department in particular has been affected as there has been a lack of an Arts advisor for quite some time without a replacement. I've heard quite a few of my classmates complain about this matter to the Arts professors on campus. The student center is a very warm and inviting place but the student really is the individual who must pursue the answers to any questions they may have in regards to whether their degree is appropriate for transfer or anything relating to transferring. The Arts department is a small, but close group so we all know each other quite well, including the teachers. Classes are small and honestly, it's great. The teachers really devote more time to their students individually! It isn't massive or chaotic like a normal university may be such as Virginia Tech. It's quite peaceful. You'll also save a ton of money in the process of attending TNCC since it is a community college! The other main issue an individual may face is because we are a split campus, you might have to jump from campus to campus depending on your major. (It's basically Computer Science and the Arts that face this issue) The Arts students have it the worst since nearly all the classes are offerred in Hampton and the Williamsburg campus doesn't have enough art students, or the space to provide more classes in the historic triangle campus. This meant last semester, I drove Monday through Thursday from Williamsburg to Hampton which is about a 35-40 minute drive every day. The bright side is that your schedule could vary semester to semester! You might have to only spend two days in Hampton (In my case this upcoming semester since I'm an Art student) or you can opt for the many online classes the school offers as well. I would say the school is great overall as the students are friendly and the instruction is more one-on-one. A majority of the issues above are mostly due to my status as an "
